The Barjasta (relief) Kilim is made with a distinctive cut and loop style flat weave with part piled areas. The dying technique of the wool is completely natural using the ‘madder root’ (a heather like plant which creates the deep reds). The red yarns are combined with natural undyed yarns to create an interesting combination of colours and surface textures. Barjasta Kilim Rugs have been prized by rug collectors for many years.

This particular Directional Afghan Barjasta Prayer Rug is in Excellent Condition, and has a beautiful design encompassing two division field area, both with mosques and minarets as well as a moon and star in it. The main boarder is made up of eight point stars (signifying spirituality).
